Merry Christmas! 🙂
This morning I ran the 12Ks of Christmas race, my final race of 2015!
The night before, I did not feel ready. I I haven’t really been running/training like I should. I keep thinking like, “oh whats 7 miles. I can do that.” Cocky!!
I took Friday night off work (I work the graveyard/weekend shift) with the intention of getting a good night’s rest before the run. But then I got invited out to an Ugly Sweater Party and had way too much fun and stayed out too late. Good, clean fun of course and it was totally worth it. 😉
But I didn’t get to bed until after 2am and then couldn’t even fall asleep till 5! I only got a short 3 hour nap before it was time to get up and get ready. Before the race, nothing sounded good for breakfast. I finally muscled down a piece of toast. I was not starting this race off with the best feeling in my stomach!
I got a late start and didn’t even get there till 3 min after the gun went off. (Just like the Turkey trot! Man, I need to get it together!) I didn’t even have time to untangle my headphones. I took off running all the while untangling and putting on some good tunes. In all of that mess, I forgot to turn on the app to track my pace. Boo. I finished somewhere around 80 mins.
I FORGOT EVERYTHING. I forgot to turn my tracker on; I forgot my flipbelt so I had to keep my phone,gu,keys in my bra, I forgot to put on deodorant!! I was a mess.
Also, I’m pretty sure I have to break up with Gu. The last few times I’ve had it out on a run, it left me feeling worse. Just sick to my stomach. I grabbed one today since I didn’t really eat breakfast and wanted some fuel in my system to run on but as soon as I ate it, I knew it was a mistake. I did not sit right in my belly. Yuck!
But I finished, ran the entire course, and was not the last person to cross the finish line. The course itself was pretty good but it was dog friendly, which I thought would be so fun until I was almost tripped by a few leashes. There were a few narrow parts too which made for some slow going, not being able to pass. And it was COLD. 43 deg. That’s cold for AZ!
So that was my last race of the year, but I have a 5k on New Years Day to look forward too. This has been a great race year and my work schedule changes soon, so I think it will only get better in 2016!!
